Exellent new addition to my Walther collection, Exellent Transaction as always, KY is the best!

Because I started out shooting on a hammer fired DA/SA pistol with a decocker, I found that most SA only guns weren't to my liking due to how short and light the trigger pulls seemed to me.

For similar reasons 1911 type guns meant to be carried 'cocked and locked' don't appeal to me because it adds the need to train deactivating the safety on your draw stroke.

The P99 is a really unique gun as it's a DA/SA striker fired gun. In addition to this it has an 'AS' trigger mode which is the default when you load a round meaning that you have a DA length pull with an SA weight.

This adds some complexity over the more common SA striker fired guns but you do get options for how you want to carry the gun - fully decocked (DA) or AS mode (Walther doesn't recommend you 'stage' the AS trigger in SA mode per the manual).

In terms of how it shoots - I do about as well with it at the range as other pistols like a Glock 19.

In terms of quality it feels good in the hand and seems to be very well made.

A three mode trigger means that you'll have to train more with the gun in the modes you'll want to carry it to become proficient - but if you don't want to be locked into an SA only trigger, and you also don't want a manual safety, then this could be up your alley.
