TAURUS 856 Defender 38 Special 3" 6rd Revolver w/ Night Sights - Stainless / VZ Grips

I have to say I am quite disappointed in this pistol - especially since I paid $100+ more than I should have. This is my 4th Taurus revolver and my second 856 - the others have been been good guns. This one has a very, very heavy and rough trigger pull compared to my other 856. The other thing that is a big negative is the fat, too fat VZ grip. It forces your hand/grip to ride much higher on the gun and changes the angle at which you pull the trigger from straight back to angled upward. This higher grip exacerbates the heavy trigger issue. The VZ grip on the revolver is a flat out FAIL! I guess that's why VZ has discontinued the "Twister" grip line. They look cool - but no bueno. I read some reviews before I purchased which said they had removed the VZ grips and ordered the stock rubber grips - now I know why! I do not recommend this version of the 856, especially at the current prices.

I have always found Taurus revolvers to be good quality at a reasonable price. I was looking for a mid-length barreled revolver and found this 856 Defender, on top of that the VZ grip option and two tone patter on this particular model gives a more unique appearance that most revolver on the market. The night sights are a good addition (and tit came with the standard front site as well) The action on the revolver is smooth and it has operated without any issues at the range.
