I shopped around extensively and this was by far one of the best deals on an entry level 1911 with up-level features, and a 70-series setup. The trigger is a dream. The next closest one in price, that is also a 70-series setup, is the Ruger SR1911. Price range on both is about the same. The DE has a full length guide rod, the Ruger does not. I like the sites on the Ruger better then those on the DE, but that said, at 7 yards I am getting 2-3 inch groups off-hand and I am still in break-in - awesome!
Build quality is very good. Two things I wish for, I wish they had included a bushing wrench - you will need one`;` I wish the thumb safety had a slightly heavier snick to it. The sights and the safety are easily remedied by any good gunsmith for a modest fee.
One more thing, this pistol does NOT like aluminum casings had to buy the indoor ranges ammo - not sure if this is a 1911 thing or just specific to this gun, as it is the only 1911 I currently own.
Hope this helps all who are shopping.
