I'm happy to see that Walther has resumed production of the PPK again! This is a fine pistol; well made, beautiful, durable, and reliable. I put 250 rounds through mine so far (I would like to do more, but unfortunately ammo is hard to come by these days during the corona virus). It performed well; nice smooth DA trigger followed up with a crisp SA trigger that makes accurate shots a piece of cake. I had no FTF/FTE problems with 95gr ball, or my select defensive ammo the 90gr Hornady XTP JHP. All brass case. Overall I'm very happy with this purchase! I pocket carry this in a Barsony pocket holster, which I've found to be a perfect fit and the holster does not present with the gun on the draw.
There were a couple minor quality issues with my PPK to point out though. These were easily resolved, but I'm sure you would be interested to know the full details. First, the original red paint for the safety dot flaked off immediately when I touched it. I'm guessing the steel was not properly degreased before painting at the factory. I fixed it by cleaning the area with acetone, and re-painting the dot with a high quality red enamel paint. It's on there permanently this time. Second, the trigger guard was bent far forward for some reason, and was not seating properly in the frame as a result. To fix this, I had to push the trigger guard pin out, and carefully release the spring tension from the trigger guard spring and plunger inside the frame. I then put the removed trigger guard in a clamp with rubber padding, and bent it to the correct shape. Reverse the process for reassembly, and presto - a perfect trigger guard. Lastly, the small spring for the ejector arm was not staked properly, and it fell out while cleaning the gun. I got a replacement ejector/spring assembly from Walther that was done correctly, and installed it myself. Problem solved. After these minor corrections, this is now a 100% perfect and flawless PPK which will last for many decades of service.
This gun is an awesome classic, and I'm glad Walther is now putting new ones back on the market! The QC issues were minor, but still a bit annoying on a 700+ piece. Still, it was easy enough to fix. In conclusion, I'm very happy with this purchase! It's an awesome gun that shoots as good as it looks!
