The Charter Arms Professional V in .357 Magnum is an American made revolver. It is comparatively trim for a 6 round revolver weighing at 25 ounces empty. That makes concealed carry less fatiguing, but also results in stout recoil with full-house Magnum loads. Of course, this revolver will also chamber .38 Special and .38 Special +P ammunition, which will result in less wrist bending recoil. The revolver includes a light-pipe front blade, which is a nice touch. Regrettably, Charter Arms went with a groove in the top strap for the rear sight. An adjustable rear sight would have been a better choice. The trigger action is relatively smooth in both double and single action. Walnut grips are standard. The matte stainless steel finish can be polished to a high gloss if one desires. Recommended.
nice quality. Douglas McClenaghan who worked for Colt and Sturm Ruger started Charter Arms in 1964. Financial reorganization 1996 to 2000 the Ecker family took over Charter Arms. 1 to 8 twist buttoned rifling makes these revolvers very accurate. My shots with .357 magnum 158 grains are grouped in the Bullseye at 7 yards and grouping well at 20 yards away. Not bad for a 3 inch barrel. I love this revolver.
